Welcome to the McKenzie Watershed Council: Atlas of the Natural Environment.  The web atlas was developed in order to provide the council, community and other interested persons quick and easy access to maps and information.  Please check out the McKenzie Watershed Council website for more information about the council.

The McKenzie River and therefore the McKenzie Watershed Council receives its name from Donald McKenzie.  Donald McKenzie headed a small party with Astor's Pacific Fur Company to explore the Willamette Valley in 1812.  The river was originally named McKenzie's Fork in 1834, but is now universally known as McKenzie River. (Oregon Geographic Names, McArthur, 1992)
