shaded relief method assumes a light direction from the northwest.
Slopes that face that direction are illuminated whereas slopes that
face the opposite direction - southeast - are shaded. The
technique provides a realistic depiction of elevation."
The
Shaded Relief Map of the McKenzie Watershed is tinted based on
elevation. The color spectrum starts with a green tint for low
elevations, moves to brown tints for middle elevations, and ends in
white tints for high elevations.
