It’s time to kick off our trip-sponsor fundraising campaign.
Salmon Watch is celebrating its 20th year of continual operation, however, many schools no longer have the same funds available to contribute toward defraying the cost of their participation. We are pleased to offer the opportunity for community members and businesses to participate in the program’s continued success.
In 2012, over 1,000 students participated in Eugene-Springfield Salmon Watch trips. This year, we have 35 trips planned, bringing approximately 1,200 students out of the classroom and into an environment where they can gain a unique understanding and appreciation for the iconic Pacific Salmon and its habitat. The total cost for these trips approaches $25,000 including transportation and substitute teacher expenses as well as the replacement, maintenance and replenishment of equipment and gear used on trips. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Eugene Water and Electric Board, the amount we still need to raise in order to support each classroom is under $20,000! Please help us reduce that figure even more by making a donation to support your local school’s field trips.
There are several levels of contribution. You may choose to sponsor the total cost of a trip ($600) or to contribute at one of our regular giving levels. You may mail a check, or make a secure online donation by clicking on “Support Us.” Regardless of how you contribute, your donation is tax-deductible, and gives you the satisfaction of knowing you helped sustain and improve educational opportunities for your neighborhood schools.
Our need is great; please consider giving today!
