The McKenzie Watershed Council and its partners have prepared a strategic action plan for aquatic and riparian conservation and management and encourage public comments on the draft plan. Interested individuals may download the plan from the link below or may request an electronic or hard copy by contacting administration@mckenziewc.org.
Comments should be directed to Larry Six by e-mail at coordinator@mckenziewc.org, or by regular mail to McKenzie Watershed Council, P.O. Box 70166, Springfield, OR 97475. The deadline for comment is April 8, 2016.
The public may also testify in person at the March 10 and April 14 council meetings. The council meets March 10 at 5:00 p.m. at the McKenzie Fire & Rescue facility in Leaburg, and April 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of Springfield Electric Board, 223 A St. in Springfield.
The plan contains actions to 1) improve habitat for key aquatic species; 2) maintain high-quality drinking water for the City of Eugene, City of Springfield and watershed residents; and 3) enhance public awareness, understanding, and support for watershed conservation and restoration.
